Meet Emma Soucy, Aviation Maintenance Lead II 👋

“Hi, I’m Emma Soucy. I was born in a small town in Colorado where I grew up at a newspaper that my mother was the editor of. I moved to Arizona in high school and later joined the Marines where I was a F/A-18 Avionics Technician and found my love for aviation. 

I went to A&P Technician school in Tennessee and then moved back to Phoenix. I also worked at Cutter Aviation for a little bit on Pilatus, Pipers and HondaJets. 



I started working at Ameriflight in 2021 as a level 1 technician. I got some experience here and became a level 2 technician before leaving for about a year and a half. I found my way back to Ameriflight in 2023 and am now the Maintenance Lead for day shift at the PHX base in Phoenix, AZ. Planning the workload and delegating tasks as well as performing maintenance and ensuring launches go smoothly are a big part of my daily work activity. I’ve had a lot of good memories with my fellow coworkers here at Ameriflight – every day is different and brings new challenges but that’s what keeps things interesting.

Outside of work, I’m a big fitness junkie. You can usually find me weightlifting, hiking, doing jiu jitsu or yoga, or being as active as possible. Aside from fitness, I also play video games and spend time with friends. 

As a mechanic, the concept of flight is fascinating. Taking a step back and wondering why components and structures are built the way they are to create that flight is very interesting. Over the years I’ve found that you better yourself as a mechanic when you understand the theories behind flight.”
